First Day of School and Various Ramblings

School Days

If you’ve missed the news, I (Chris) will be teaching elementary music, middle school choir and high school choir this year at Kiev Christian Academy.   This is the school Hannah attended last year.   She, Bethany and Seth will all be attending this year.  It’s not something I went looking for.   At all.   When we first began the process of moving here, I was very interested in teaching music there if possible, but they didn’t need a teacher at that time and it was not an option so I totally put it out of my mind.   At the end of the school year last year, I was asked if I would consider doing it.   I was reservedly excited and prayed and sought the Lord.   I accepted the position and made plans to start teaching during the 2013-2014 school year.   I’ve only committed to a year at this point.  We’ll see what next year brings.  We started in-service on the 14th and I was at school every day leading up the first day of school (except weekend days).   We started classes on Thursday (22nd of August).   It was a great day and very exciting for me.   What a great privilege God has given me.  There are a few hurdles (like the missing and damaged pieces of the curriculum) but these too shall be overcome!

Bethany and Seth were super excited about starting school after being home schooled for the last 2 years.  They are really loving it so far (after two days).  And believe it or not, Hannah began her SENIOR YEAR!

Guests

We had several guests over the summer.   Gus Downing made a trip to see us and prepare for a conference in October.  We also had a great time having Jordan McCullough here from Oklahoma.  He was with us for almost a month.   He was here after our very busy month of July but he got to visit the conferences we participated in, see our small house-church in action and he got to just see how we live.  You can ask him…we live pretty normal lives here (some people would say normal = boring).   We also had several Ukrainian guests with us and American-Ukrainian friends visits.   I won’t mention any of their names for their privacy.

Other Stuff

Our Friday night Bible study for families with children with special needs begins again in two weeks.   We’re very excited about the new beginning with the group.   In addition, in a couple of Sundays, we will begin Children’s Sunday School (Kids Club) again.  We are hoping for good participation!  Life is in full swing here.  We’re all alive and thriving.  We are trying to grow closer to the Lord and to make Him known.   We continue building deeper relationships with people we meet here and we continue to follow hard after Him.

As always, we are Blessing the Name of the Lord!  Thank you for your prayers and for your financial support!

Chris Malone

It is a joy to serve our Lord with the bride of my youth, Mary, and our children. Our nine kids are not all living at home anymore. One has already completed university and has started her career. One is finishing his master's degree and will start his career soon. One is completing her freshman year at university. That leaves six at home. One of those completes high school this year. Amazing since Mary and I are only 30 years old (at least in our minds).
