Uncertain times…a Certain God.

The uncertainty of today is palpable in the air.  There is some hope that Russia is backing off and that the impending invasion may, indeed, be staved off by diplomacy.  On the other hand, the ultimatum that has been laid at Ukraine’s feet in exchange for not further military action is something that Ukraine will never (and should never) agree to.  So where does that leave us?  We don’t know.
Still, uncertainty does NOT rule the day.  The One who IS Certain rules the day.  We stand fast in our faith that God is certain…even in uncertainty.

The Current News
The news today, as it has been for months, is of mixed report.  Contrasting views.  Different perspectives.  Yes, even some propaganda.  We take it for what it is.  Peoples opinions about something to which logic simply cannot be applied to.  The best news today is that God is on His throne just like always.  He has today written down already, and has had it written down since before He created the universe (according to Psalm 139).  That’s where we find our strength for today.  That’s where we place our hope.

What are our plans?
Our plans are to continue looking to Him.  Listening to Him.  Waiting on Him.  Just like always.   Not only where there is a threat of war.  But that’s the way we always try to live.  Do I wish I had an almanac that would tell me hour-by-hour what to expect?  You better believe it!  That’s not going to happen though.  We have to wait.  And while we wait we will worship, we will follow, we will listen, we will obey, we will trust.  So our plans are the same as they always have been, I guess.

Jamie flew to England yesterday…
Jamie felt that it was time for her to step out of Ukraine for a little bit of time.  She had the opportunity to return to England (not to London but to a small town about 2 hours from London).  She has some dear friends there and will be with them and ministering to everyone she comes in contact with, as usual.  We’re not sure when she’ll be back…just that she will be back.  Please pray for her while she’s away that God will grant her refreshment and a sweet time with friends.

Other Missionaries
Lots of people have left Ukraine for this time…many have returned…many have not.  That doesn’t really put pressure on us either way, honestly.  We are all listening and all following the Spirit.  He calls each of us to different things, in different places, at different times and for different reasons.  Please pray for the missionaries who live and work in Ukraine during this time.

School reopened today
We are glad for a little bit of normalcy in our lives.  We return to normal schedules today.  It’s a relief really.  The leadership at the school watches things carefully and speaks with the embassy on a daily basis to make decisions.  Please pray for them as they decide day-to-day what to do.

Regardless what happens…
We hold this truth tightly…  His plans for us are to give us a hope and a future — not to destroy us.  (Jeremiah 29:11)  Of this we are sure.

THANK YOU for praying for us.

Blessed be the Name of the Lord.  Both now and forevermore.

Chris Malone

It is a joy to serve our Lord with the bride of my youth, Mary, and our children. Our nine kids are not all living at home anymore. One has already completed university and has started her career. One is finishing his master's degree and will start his career soon. One is completing her freshman year at university. That leaves six at home. One of those completes high school this year. Amazing since Mary and I are only 30 years old (at least in our minds).
