God’s Work Abounds

[dropcap style=”1″ size=”3″]G[/dropcap]od is always at work around us.  His plans come to pass.   His timing is perfect.   His will is the best.  And He never, Never, NEVER has a plan “B”.   He doesn’t need one.
Late last evening (Saturday) we got an sms from our translator that she couldn’t come because she is sick.  Thankfully, that no longer causes us great panic…though it is still a problem.  We immediately began trying to contact another young woman who fills in from time to time.   Her phone was switched off, or it was dead, or out of money, or something.   So…we just went to bed.   I prayed a prayer of trust in God and went to sleep.

This morning, I began trying to get a plan “B” in order.   I searched and searched for an appropriate sermon that was in Russian we could watch but found nothing.  The closer to church time, the more frustrated I was getting.   I had told God I trusted Him and now all of a sudden He was letting me down…wasn’t He?  Jamie found a video by Josh McDowell (and when I say video I mean video cassette) and we drug out the VCR and got it connected to the projector and sound.  We watched the first few seconds just to be sure the sound was working and there was a picture on the screen.

We had a great time worship and singing and then a wonderful prayer time together.   Then we started the video… low and behold, the audio quality just wasn’t good enough and the translation was not intelligible enough to be easily understood.  So we stopped it and I began wracking my brain for all the “religious” words I know.  Just at that moment, I saw someone come in the door and realized it was our friend who is a translator…she goes to a church in Brovary with her family.  But they decided to visit us today.  I asked her if she knew we needed a translator.  Nope.  She didn’t.  But I know Who DID know we needed a translator.  Our God is amazing.  That’s all there is to it.  He knew the moment we would need her to be here and that’s when she arrived.  Not late.  Not early.  Right on time.  I went on with my prepared message but cut it down a lot because we had spent a lot of time praying (which is a great thing, of course).  We were so excited about what God had just done.

He is at work.  He is with us.  He wants us each to join Him in His work.  Thank Him!

Blessed be the Name of the Lord!

Chris Malone

It is a joy to serve our Lord with the bride of my youth, Mary, and our children. Our nine kids are not all living at home anymore. One has already completed university and has started her career. One is finishing his master's degree and will start his career soon. One is completing her freshman year at university. That leaves six at home. One of those completes high school this year. Amazing since Mary and I are only 30 years old (at least in our minds).
