Is this the day God will forget about me or (you)?

[box title=”Abraham was 75 years old…” color=”#333333″]Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” 4 So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. —Genesis 12:1-4[/box]
As I’ve been praying and meditating on what God is doing right now, I start to get a little jittery, to be perfectly honest.   What if He calls me in to something that I can’t do on my own and then one day forgets about me and I end up crashing and burning and taking my family with me?  When we say things like “what if God forgets about me” out loud it sounds pretty silly, doesn’t it?  Yet, I know that’s what is going on in my heart right now.  I TRUST God—but I still have moments of unbelief.

Do you remember that scene in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade when Indy walks up to the giant chasm?

He looks too and fro and sees no path, yet he knows that he is supposed to cross it to get to the other side.  He contemplates what he is about to do, gets all out of breath, argues with himself about what to do…  So he closes his eyes, takes a deep breath and takes a step.  I remember being on the edge of my seat the first time I saw it.  How could he just step off in to nothingness?  There was no path that we could see, but took a step he did.  It turned out there WAS a path there.   He just couldn’t see it.

I certainly don’t intend to diminish the Christian walk of faith to a movie clip, but it’s what is going on for us right now in our journey of faith.   We are at the end of US and looking for where HE is working so we can join Him.  We know that if God is working through us, the results will be eternal and significant.  Remember what happened when Moses first asserted himself on behalf of the children of Israel?  He saw a fellow Israelite being abused but someone and he ended up killing that man to protect his “brother.”  What result came from Moses acting out on his own accord?  He was in exile in Midian for 40 years!  Some great results, huh?  Now, think about what the results were when GOD asserted Himself through Moses on behalf of the children of Israel in slavery to the Egyptians?  There isn’t room on my web server to chronicle all that happened as a result.  We are unable to understand or comprehend all that comes from God’s work.  One day in heaven we’ll know, I’m sure.

What is God about to do?

We don’t know for sure or exactly, but we see places where is IS working and we know He’s inviting us to join Him in that work.  We don’t have the plan, we can’t see the path, but we are breathlessly ready to take steps into the unknown  Steps of faith and trust.  What about you?

By the way…this isn’t the day God will forget about me, or about you.  That day will never come.  Walking with Him, we should never fear.

Chris Malone

It is a joy to serve our Lord with the bride of my youth, Mary, and our children. Our nine kids are not all living at home anymore. One has already completed university and has started her career. One is finishing his master's degree and will start his career soon. One is completing her freshman year at university. That leaves six at home. One of those completes high school this year. Amazing since Mary and I are only 30 years old (at least in our minds).
